Dearly beloved and honourable as well as well learned, highly experienced, devout in Christ, generous hearts, friends and brothers, together with my greetings, I wish you all salvation and prosperity from GOD Almighty for this New Incoming Year, together with all temporal and eternal happiness before: Dearly beloved hearts, benevolent Mecoenates and friends, just as the stag Psalm 41. As the stag gives after fresh springs of water, so now all this time since I won your patronage, I have been drinking with all lovers and followers (sectatoribus), the holy heavenly philosophers and alchemists, especially with you from the fountain of truth, not only what the natural light, but also the light of the Holy Spirit reveals from its very own heavenly message of the Holy Scriptures.

But now many erroneous lights have been lighted and set up in this world by Lucifer and his organisers, whereupon this present blind, selfish and money-crazed world regulates itself and boasts of great high wisdom and gifts and bounces and flaunts them and makes itself appear as if the sky would fall down if it were not for them: regulates itself and boasts of great high wisdom and gifts and bounces and flaunts them and makes itself appear as if the sky would fall down if it were not for them: all together is only a false pagan deadly philosophising and before God's face as a hideous sin, stinking pretended wisdom, which is a loud foolishness before him, as Paulus says, and can never again stand or be seen before the throne of God.

There are also many stinking, foul, stultifying spirits, laymen and princes, who flow from the dead carrot and dark kingdom of Satan, in it nothing but devilish cunning and lies. Indeed, many thousands of people unwittingly and in great blindness drink both temporal and eternal death from them and yet consider them to be healthy, healing wells and springs of water.

Accordingly, from my youth I have sought such fountains of truth and living fountains of true wisdom and philosophers with great diligence and earnestness: Although I myself strayed from the right path and was led and drawn to the foul, nasty, dark princes of the supposedly wise philosophers of the world and the arts, yet by divine gracious providence and drawing of the heavenly Father, I was again fatherly redeemed and turned away from such turbid dark spirits: and finally arrived at the highly enlightened Philosopher and Monarch of the Arts (Philosopho and Artium Monarcha) THEOPHRASTO, who explains and expounds to me the light of nature from true fundamental reason (fundamentaliter), in Astronomia, Philosophia, Magia, & Theologia Cabalistica, which reason may never again be contradicted in eternity: And then also comes to you who speaks in the New Testament loh 4. cap. To the Samaritan woman, that HE shall give no living water: and he shall give such, and it shall become in him a well of water, and shall spring up into everlasting life: and whosoever drinketh of this water shall never again be allowed.

Item: To the one from whom the Father Father called from heaven, Matth.3. Listen to this, this, I say (Hunc, Hunc, inquam, audite ). Who also himself says Johan. 14., I bind the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father through me, &c. But now many a year hero, ye dear hearts and citizens, (when I now some years hero, come again to the true natural Spagiristic Philosophy. ) to drink with you from the cup of the prophet Esdrae and Joseph, or also from the Moses' drinkable golden calf (Auro potabili Mosis), which he sprinkled from the golden crushed calf on the water and gave to the children of Israel to drink, also to drink the heavenly fiery nectar, and to taste the natural fountain of temporal life and health, which happens to few.

But that this has not yet taken place, it is truly our own fault that we have not prepared and prepared ourselves worthily and efficiently for this, and that we have only pursued and striven with the world for the temporal and have not paid attention to the rule of CHRIST, Matthew 6: Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all other things will be added to you, &c (Quaerite primum regnum DEI & iustitiam eius, & caetera omnia adijcentur vobis, &c). But as much as I may have learnt from all the philosophers who have hitherto written about universal medicine and the divine treasure of tinctures among pagans and Christians, and who have had the philosopher's stone as the supreme secret treasure of nature, I find that the majority of them have all been true naturalists, sensible philosophers, magicians and cabalists. Then the real true magic, is such an art, and skill, by which one arrives at the knowledge of the elements, their combined bodies, fruits, properties, powers and hidden effects.

The Kabala, however, from the high content of the high secret mind, shows man the right way and punishment to reach God the heart, how to deal with him and what to reveal and proclaim from his word.

MAGIA is guided by the Anima mundi and the natural spirit of natural light: if she could draw it from the Creatis (Created/You Created) and creatures of God, especially from the Metals and Minerals (Metallis and Mineralibus), and bring it to an incombustible oil (incombustibili oleo), then man would be helped. CABALA, however, is based on the light of the Holy Spirit, which is also kindled from above in the hearts of believers: with faith must also spring forth and flow from the living water source of CHRIST, John 4, which will then bring us into Eternal Life, where we will enjoy, drink and eat the New Divine Nectar and heavenly Ambrosiam, Mannam and Engelbrodt with CHRIST in His Kingdom.

Now to partake of such graces from the natural fountain of health, and of all riches here and now, and then also of the heavenly graces of the fountain of living water and nectar divini in the kingdom of CHRIST, we must send from ourselves into the matter differently: As to this, of course, Theophrasti, Bachonis, Fr Basili, Isaaci Hollandi, &c. And follow in the footsteps of other philosophers; as for the eternal, follow CHRISTO IESV, as the Trismegisto, Spagyro, Philosopho, Physician of Body and Soul, study the Follow me, ask, seek, knock (Sequere me, petere, quaerere, pulsare), these three also let us be concerned to keep his New Great Commandment, which is after all a light and heavy burden: namely, to love God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and our rights as ourselves, rc.

Item to be found faithful and diligent disciples in the eight virtues of happiness. To hear CHRIST alone, to follow a man, or human wisdom, and its spirit, for it is said: Cursed is he who trusts in Man, Man, and every man is a liar: only God is true, &c. (Maledictus qui confidit in Homine, Homine, & omnis homo mendax: solus Deus veray, &c.) If we will pursue this diligently and with diligence, For Stone is useful in all things, having promises not only of this, but also of the future life. (Pieras enim ad omnia utilis est, promifsiones non tantum huius, fed etiam fuurae vitae habens.)

Diese meine Liberrimam παρρησίαν - This my freest boldness/speech ("expressing your personal opinion with courage and honesty") Compellation, and free, round, kind-hearted philosophical commendations, I hope you will all favour me, and much more consider and regard my mind and heart, as I so sincerely mean well with all true philosophers and lovers of the noble, dear natural alchemies, and wish from the bottom of my heart that not only I, but all others of their desires, may be graciously informed and given by God such golden gift (donum Aureum) and then also Eternal way & beauty (Aeterna via & beautitudo).

I have no doubt about this for myself, but have already seen many years ago what has been bestowed on me by the Most High Father, all perfect and perfect gifts fed so exhausted after a thousand labors (fed tanem exhaustos post mille labores), and will be in the near future. But we must also learn to recognise nature itself. That nature nourished nature; Naura embraces nature, conquers and survives (Quod natura naturam feparet; Naura naturam complectatur, vincat & superet), as the philosophers say, do not work according to the general practices and processes, of which there is hardly one among thousands, but look at the possibility in all our Chemical Compounds (Compositionibus Chymicis), whether there is a right homogeneitas or not, for Nature is happy to be brought together (Nattura naturae gaudet collaetur), and separate, flee and avoid all heterogenea, for it all lies in experience and awareness. For it is certain and true that he who does not recognise God does not love Him, he knows nothing of Him: he who does not know the Trinity does not believe it, he does not love it.

And these are high mysteries and mysteries of God, of which the world knows nothing, or recognises nothing, therefore it also does not believe it, nor does it fundamentally experience it. And the right The reason for this is given to us by our highly enlightened magus and cabalist THEOPHRASTUS, from the English and cabalistic science (scientia), whom all true Christian philosophy should believe.

So too, he who does not know nature does not love it, he who therefore recognises nothing, who despises nothing in it, his belly is only his god. But the more knowledge is in a thing, the more love is kindled for it. He who does not understand or recognise the poor, or has tried his poverty himself, does not believe him, does not love him, does not do him any good, as the pagan Queen Dido in Virgilio boasts, saying: I learn to help those who are not ignorant of evil (Non ignara mali miseris succurrere disco). Which is much more due to us Christians by the command of our Master and the heart of JESUS CHRIST, because, alas, God have mercy, such love and faithfulness have almost grown cold and disappeared in all human hearts. Therefore all things are in knowledge, out of which then flow the fruits towards the same; knowledge gives faith: for he who recognises God believes in him: he who does not recognise him does not believe in him: so each one takes as much as he believes as he recognises.

So also in the alchemy, he who does not learn to recognise it, and its nature and hidden secret powers, deeply locked in the metals and minerals, will not love it either, much less bring it out, know how to separate the pure from the impure (secrete the purum ab impuro), much less attain the fifth essence, which is the whole core and reason in every Being or Creato. And this is enough philosophising for now, until our happy meeting and oral conversation. Treatise 1 - TRACTATUS 1.


Containing the Practice, of the Wisest King Solomon, on the Philosopher's Stone.
Continens Practicam, Sapientisimi Regis Salomonis, de Lapide Philosophorum.

You know that fire and non-fire become fire together, that they might make an easy entry (ut facilem fortiantur ingressum). It is necessary that they be released all the more often. For without the Solution this work cannot be perfectly accomplished, whereby further the elements are perfectly separated, for this Stone is accomplished by their element, Water, Air and Fire. Terra is the root and nourishment of the other elements, the ferment indeed. The water which penetrates through the air, the spirit carries and brings. So now understand our solution, that the spirit or water purifies the being from all impurities, the air penetrates through to the root, but the fire makes it fixed and best dig the earth: The water shall be given to the thirsty earth in its season. The earth remains fixed in its place, through which the three elements are put together again: For without the elements his perfect tincture may be prepared. But while in this mixture the elements are still more disorderly mixed together, and lie hidden, yet its sharp and inward sub-unity, which is quite strong in nature and effect, can be prepared. Thus the elements are not able to hide themselves and give off a vapour or smoke, which are noticeably pungent spirits.

It was from these roots that Solomon built the Ark (Archam) and adorned the temple in Jerusalem.

First of all, within the framework of the Most High, take the most noble king, who, bare and pure and surrounded by all virtue and born of the noblest lineage in this world, wears a crown of the finest and purest gold to be found in the world, a crown adorned with the most precious stones. This king dwells in the Orient, and his power is richer and extends to the Occident, and his wrath begins from Midday and terrifies all who dwell in the middle of the night, The solution is the beginning of our work. No tincture is perfect unless it proceeds from a true and perfect root (Solutio, nostri Operis initium est. Nulla Tinctura perfecta, nisi ex vera perfecta radice procedat). Take this king who wears the beautiful golden crown, because of his high and rich mind and brave spirit, show him all his clothes, whatever colours they may be, so that he may be completely clean and pure from all the colours of his manifold clothes, soak him in gently warmed water, from which his age and nature may rejoice, and take care that you do not make the bath too hot, so that you do not burn his tender, pure body, veins, flesh and legs: With the same water rub all his veins soothingly. By this soothing and pleasing bath he will fall asleep. In such a sleep of the king, keep the water in long mild warmth, so that he remains in a degree of warmth constantly. If you thus keep the bath with comfortable warm air, the king will fall into a deep sleep because of the sweet warmth, which he cannot awaken, so that he finally becomes so weak that he dies a gentle and mild death. Let this corpse be rocked in a warm bath with the same warmth until the month is over: then half as long, but let the bath go all over the slain king: all his strength and bones will dissolve and the king will begin to rot, so that his flesh, veins and bones will begin to turn completely black. But his inner heart and inner blood are still beautifully red, fresh and healthy. So you have the beginning of the work and the death of the king, which understand that our root is consumed in water. The work is carried on by the comfortable warmth of material fire.

I will now reveal to you more of the four elements that are still mixed in the decayed body, so keep your water still rising in equal warmth and let the king be well putrified by the material fire, preserved and nourished in equal and mild warmth: Thus awake the four elements of the slain body, which is its inmost warmth and natural working power: So then, as they awake, they become more divided by the elevation of distillation, each in its place.

I will reveal to you the garden of paradise, so that you will understand the work all the better, and I will tell you first of all what the tree is in the middle of the garden.

Secondly, what the earth is in which the tree is planted:

Third, what is the venomous and crafty serpent that counselled the heir to break the apple?

Fourth, what are the four waters that flow through the Garden of Paradise?

The tree Good and Bad (Boni & Mali) was compared to our root: The earth to our Mercurio: In which our root accomplished her perfect tincture, for the simple our king. The poisonous serpent is our resolving water, that is, Mercury (hoc est, Mercurius) in water resolved (resolutus).

The four rivers to refresh the tree of life of our root are none other than our Mercurius water, in which our king is dissolved, and the same water is divided into four principal waters, which kill the earth. The first water is called Pison, which surrounds the whole land of Indiam, wherein is much gold, deadly and pure: Understand our root, which is encompassed by the Mercurial Water, for in it is found very pure and deadly Indian gold: so understand that the main river and the first divided water called Pison are all the same meaning of our Mercurial Water. For it is the first main river, of which the first river and water divide, understand the elements.

The other water is called Gyhon, which flows around the whole of Morenland, It is equivalent to bringing the blackness of water (Aequiparatur aquae nigredinem inferenti). The third water is called Hideckiel, because it turns and flows towards the morning. This water signifies the element of air then coming through the air, for this man's and woman's seed is perfected. The fourth water is called Eurphrates, which signifies the element of fire and the end of our stone.

If the king is turned into a spirit, then only hold the degree of fire equal, so it rises up and down, until as long as it lies again in the bottom of the glass in a way folded and coloured. When you see this, do not hurry too much, give it space so that the work becomes all the more perfect, then proceed with the same degree of fire as far as Rubedin (ignus usque ad Rubedinem). Unless the seed of the man unites with the woman of the woman, you will accomplish nothing in the work. (Nisi semen viri cum femine mulieris conjungator, nihil in opere perficies.)

There are four keys to art, the first being Solution and Putrefaction. The other is sublimation or divorce. The third is the consummation of the man and woman's semen to mingle with a natural marriage and to unite completely with each other. The fourth is Seal of Hermes, putrefaction completed in 42 days (Sigillum Hermetis, Putrefaktio 42. diebus absolvitur): but would be better a little longer, for thereby his harm is done. The chief care of the whole work is that the heat should not be too intense (Praecipua totius Operis cura est ne calor nimium intendatur). Fire of Decay (Ignis Putrefactionis) is to be made from a thought Alumnis Plumoli is prepared in pure tree oil, so that it almost reaches the first leaves. The ascending and descending vapour is finally dissolved in fire, which, joined to the earth, decomposes it into the nature of futility (quae terrae Coniunctta eam putrefaciendo resolvit in fui naturam).

& behind all the arts is the The subject of dyeing / the Subject Tincture (Subiectum TINCTURAE), that is the tinctural being, the highest and most excellent art above all other arts in this world, which the eternal deity has reserved for it, and does not make it manifest to everyone and wants all men to be rich, but one man to serve another with kindness and labour. And although this art has been revealed to many hands, especially to great heads as kings, it has not happened to others, because they have known nothing of GOD the Almighty, whether they want to humble themselves or reflect.

Namely, that there must be a God who has created such a mystery: Namely, that such a tinctural being can and should tint so much metal so perfectly to the best gold constantly in all high samples and better gold than can come from the mountains: Or by special inspiration from the highest as well as the most holy three kings, who were also pagans, had to carry gold, frankincense and myrrh such a very long way to the Lord Christ our Saviour. But the pagans were very secretive in such arts, keeping them hidden so that others like them would not be offended, as indeed they should be. And although such pagan kings must have had people who were able to practise such arts, it was nevertheless diligently observed by them that those who were predestined to do so were also secretive about it, and I myself say that not everyone was qualified to do so.

I Trisomosin have had nine Disciples (the students Discipulos), is advised to his then only one, Philips Hohenheimer, a born Swiss, a mischievous man: I say, He will become great in this art, when he comes to about his middle age, then the world will hear great wonders from him and bring many miracles to light. Whoever belongs to the great treasure of the Red Lion must be able to draw the suns on the mountains, quench them with lion's blood, and the great secret work will increase in strength, since you will perform miracles with it.

You should also be silent, set your heart in prayer to God in heaven, there your Red Lion will green with the most beautiful of the greatest cordiality, for this is the treasure in the world, according to which nothing is equal to the eternal. He possesses everything, health and wealth and all penetrating power. And I tell you, this Red Lion tears apart everything that is imperfect and makes it perfect again to the highest degree, people and the metalls realise this. And if these gifts are not only despised by many, but even abused, the eternal God will not be better revealed in this world for the sake of ingratitude.


Now follows the Process

Take a strong Sp. Vini, distilled through seven-sixty paper, on a measure of this pour four litres of 🜹, which has previously been purely extracted in a flask glass. This Sp. Vini alcolised with 🜹 Sal Ammoniac to dissolve the Gold putrificiern sigillated for four days and nights in even by Balneo M. Then distil it again through sixty-five benedisch paper, so the Sp. Vini will be fair to the dissolution.

So now get started. Take from (illegible) the firen Coagulat, that is ☉ Sol percusum, as it is to be found with the Goldschlagern, eight holes, put it into a flask, pour the Sp. Vini on it, that it goes well over it, put it well into the MB to putrificate eight days and nights with very mild warmth, distil the spiritum from it until delicacy, then pour a fresh Sp. Vini on it as much as you have drawn from it, but let it putrify for eight days and distil the spiritum again mildly and for the third time pour a fresh Sp. Vini on it on the delicacy and putrify for eight days, then distil perlatus subtly, so everything will rise over it as a spiritual moist work, let it rest until it settles. Then the wateriness is to be poured off subtly and the material blue to elliptical times, so it is ready for coagulation, the work now so completely rock in a round Biolgethan with the Sigillo Hermetis well-potted or otherwise with good Lute, put it into the regiment of the fire in subile extinguished ashes with constant mild heat cooked, until it turns out to a fixed and unburnable stone, as a red ruby, so you have the lion ganu beautiful and perfect.

Take this Red Lion, rub it in the smallest and most subtle way and putrificate it again with the upper water of the Sp. Vini, as before, but renewed every five days with fresh Sp. Vini, this is done for the third time with fresh Sp. Vini, so it is turned into the fleeting spirituality: And when the Sp. Vini in the Mariae B. Lind is drawn away to delicacy, a blood-red liquor remains, which is called the red lion's blood: This is now the greatest and mightiest treasure in the whole world to which nothing is equal.

You shall take half a pound of the glittering black eagle piece by piece and stratify it into a living lime, and Emenate until it turns red inside and out. Take this and grate it into a flask, and pour over it the added Aq. Regis, which should be poured all over it, and swish it up and down until the water remains all over it. Then rub this antimonium or black eagle very finely, put it into another flask, which should not be thick, but should lie one on top of the other, and pour the unburnt oil of the black eagle on top of it, which should be stirred well one on top of the other, and leave it to work in warm grayling for four days and night in mild heat. Thus he makes this incombustible oil the volatile black eagle fixed and fireproof and this element can be used without ceasing.

Take one part of this powder to fifty parts of Mercurij Crudi, if he wants to smoke, then one part of this powder to one hundred parts. And know for certain, as God has created me, that in the Antimony is the highest secret within, for nothing more may be taken to it than this Antimony alone. AUGMENTATIO.

The fourth and fifth colors will appear blackish at the bottom of the glass, then liver-colored. The sixth, seventh and eighth transformations after the regiment of fire, the black color disappears and becomes blue and red with streaks as if they were worms, after which you see yellow and green streaks. Naturally, however, as you can determine their nature and properties according to the content of the three defects of Luna, which of them is greater, and what should be given to the first and what to the last. It would also be very good, if you actually consider how much heavier the sun is than Luna, to look at the preceding figure with understanding, so you will find that I have written philosophically about deep things.

All philosophies agree on this

That all imperfect metals are weak gold, therefore they have no other difference from gold, neither alone the incident effect more or less combustible or tempered, which follows all, that this is so not quite good in corpore and lack of imperfection, becomes perfect through this which is good in the perfect body. But now all metals are brought into argentum vivum, therefore they have been argentum vivum, and so it is answered to those who think and say that the form of metals may not be changed, and this is true, as they say. They should not be brought to the first masonry. For then one has their true and proper sperm of metals. It is therefore possible for them to be generated, primarily by kusen, from the same sperm.

For the perfect body of argentum vivum is fixed, because it is boiled in the belly of the earth by the heat of sulphur, in a moderate or temperate action, but the fixed Swabian type is the fixed argent type, in the innermost of the substance of Gold or Silver, is very ring and fluid like wax, and is an overwhelming of the fire. Therefore, the ground sulphur and argentum vivum coagulate, and the common argentum vivum transforms them into Solis or Lunae afterwards. In the same way, all imperfect mediocre bodies in the nature of the Sun and Moon are changed; therefore it is evident that this art works in a few days and hours, which nature forfeits and accomplishes in a thousand years.

There are two ways to bring the imperfect bodies into perfect ones of Sol and Luna.

You want to know from me that you yourself would like to know how, according to the old process, metals could be transformed and brought into matter. But that I should send you such a secret at your request in a paper through the evil world, you will not learn me nor other unintelligent ones with your high schools to write such a thing to you. But the faithful service you have rendered me, I send you to fulfill your request, and that is that you must know beforehand that the metals must be brought into their first and last essence, otherwise all your effort and work is in vain, useless and in vain, that you should therefore understand.

But which spirits and stars serve their natural creatures and are completely helpful, this high grace is known to few people: For this reason, even among us humans, this matter is not recognized and is found by few, which has so many names that more error than good results from it.

Because all blessings, graces and gifts come down from above, the spirits of life initially desire the water, but the water desires the earth and the Spirit, all of which is its own: Although this happens in three different forms, it is precisely the one thing that God has wonderfully made from the beginning.

Through fire, air, water and spirit, all things came into being and were put together, properly constructed and fruitfully created. Out of the same hidden mass comes our pearl juice from the people to whom it is revealed and from whom the Signat Star falls, who will obtain this treasure and bring its working power.

We know so thoroughly that the water has its dwelling place with the earth, the water must also be transformed into earth, to understand this, so it rises from our matter, becomes a spiritual and subtle creature. By such constructed earth and Spiritualist water mingling, such water becomes an earth which unites water with the Fiery Spirit, which because it is cold in nature, airy round in itself has a rising cold spirit and is indeed a subtle drawn out salt, which is resolved with its Spiritu, fixed, made all fiery and permanent in its power. The ancients could find no other ashes or salt that reveals everything from the root: Which all is a spiritual being, that is now clearly revealed, as to be seen in the sea water. In the same way, if the water is separated from it, it is a coarsely poisonous salt that must be purified and cleansed of its sulfur.

What you find and see in the great world is also found in the small world. This is a true parable and instruction of the Salian Corporis, which is one of the materials thrown down by man, and yet is the best, which is turned into a spiritually incombustible magisterium, which should not be forgotten, for in this lies the art and all mastery. The heavenly fire, however, is much clearer and purer, completely astral, not watery, airy, cold, but fiery. Therefore it is said that we should continue to work with such reported things, hiding the fire in the cold water, which is a beautiful clear example.

For the heavenly does not need purification, but the philosophical earth does; through such frequent renewal of these earths and such preparation everything becomes fruitful. The heaven of Saturn has a much more delicate animation than other celestial earths may perform. But this is the divine center, the matter and mother of our ☉ Sol. The water, however, has its fiery spirit with it, which hovers there constantly in strong movement, according to the judgment and according to the heavenly astral order of God, day and night, eternally without end, invulnerable, undepletable in its active power.

Proceed alone with this massa, for it remains to date quite desolate, know, without fruit, dark and empty, unrecognized, lying silent before all eyes and hearts, completely hidden and rejected: But by the gracious divine will of God all things shall be made manifest in time to come. But now I want to speak clearly about the often reported division and reversal of such natures of the elements: From this alone the earth will be completely fruitful, that it will prove its working help in this quite strongly, since there must be that from it, all that the Quint. After the first death, the pure bodies are led into my bath and are thus pure and born anew, from this the treasure of the ancients is revealed.

The fathers have all left testimony to their descendants of their writings as a testament: From above we are given such heavenly inheritance, that we should search the Scriptures and work with nature and not nature again. This is taught to us by the true one art alone of the one thing that can master all things, in the metallic inner being, which its astrum brings forth, the outer body is deadly, dies and passes away: dies and passes away: the inner remains, that is pure and pure, as soul and spirit, to which we give a new clear body, in which we should seek and work.

This spirit dwells in all the elements and is full of smoke and wind, yet cold and fiery: it is recognized by few, considered small: It is a bitter juice, and yet has hidden in it the very greatest feet, that is Anima AZOTHI.

Much has been said about this evil thing, and many a judgment has been passed. One searches for it in the high and in the distant, but it is set in the near and in the deep. God's order works it and has planted it, created it for this key: All destroyed Corpora are again affected by this one thing, highly appreciated, from this help alone perfectly invented. Its outward form is more of an earthly nature: its spirit and soul are pure and pure, from it we create a new pure body: therefore we do not need any external help for this work, we add to it alone that which is so similar and equal to it.

Earthly reason may never be able to discover it by itself, without mortification and detachment from the earthly, and that one (illegible) from the heavenly, they may come to such high knowledge, but man must suffer and endure much about it and be a mockery to the godless world and be mocked by it. This heavenly spirit, because of its beautiful fiery clarity, is called by the wise a Salamander, and Sandaraea, which is pure and clean: thus neither spirit nor animae may have its dwelling in any unclean vessel, nor does it enter into it: Only the things so pure, and compared in its sex, call it what you will, it is nothing else but this cold and fiery spirit Vulgi, and the abiding water Viscosa; which by its received great heavenly power in its first spiritual ascension does illuminate the clarity of heaven, as a pure propitiatory sacrifice, in which the Holy and Most High is well pleased, as in the sacrifice of Eliae. This fire also enlightens and refreshes man's soul and spirit, from it proceeds great understanding and high wisdom: man's life will also embalm and rid himself of all earthliness, attain health, long life, that he may do what he is commanded to do.

For this reason give your stone blood from ☉ Sol of which becomes a whole work, celestial and perfect: for this nature is all nourishing always fruitful to work great marvels: it is pure virgin, fiery, airy, hot, cold watery, a clarified corpus, an overcomer of all strong things. Thus God the Father, through his eternal Word, as the other person, has procured these things for his marvelous works, not placing them in his ultimate essence, but wanting to elevate them in Primam Materiam Confusam, worthy to be clarified into heavenly things. Now this is a thing, and is called Materia, in the root of which dwells the growing power, from which the whole world together with this juice and spirit are mingled: for this reason the ancients call it the thing in which all mysteries lie concealed. The Holy Scriptures also show this clearly: The Prima Materia was Sal Maris, the water on which the Spirit of God floats: In this the whole work is now composed, divine and whitish, so that the first is created, built, broken, and again a new birth is created from it.

Therefore we should remain with the power that works in nature, not ponder further, nor inquire higher, but remain with the rules of the ancients, and be content with this revelation and high grace of God. Coliculo, this word comprehends all things in all things: thus it is understood and interpreted. It is a fiery living water, the philosophical Viscosa, which rises up the mountain, and falls down into the deep valley: seek its fountain-spring, and thou shalt have power to ting, to work great wonders in medicine, and in metals. A regula drawn from Theophrasti true described testimonies, in which it is clearly reported, of the inner great power of the ☉ Sol, what a heavenly fire is decided in it, which alone is right and mighty to work miracles. Which its Sulphur and Mercurius as its Q. Essentiae, with the help of our Materia Spiritum vel Animae, can also per se, with the effect of our water, become the elixir. The ☉ Sol is thus highly appreciated because of its internal tinctural juice, which ultimately appears scarlet red, is the highest medicine, which may not be pronounced inadequate before it.

If everything has the power to release the gold, there is its right treasure chamber, the key, and the philosophical vessel in which the fire ☉ Sol is decided, it is highly valued by the water Viscosam, for the metal is fastened and put together with it, it also has such power to unlock this bond again, it is a water and fiery ray, there it works and breaks everything hidden, without compulsion and hardship: It hath all in it, it is the first and last, a heavenly gate, the some matrix, the life-giving growing power that swallows both soul, body, and spirit, and dignifies it again.

Without this juice the ☉ Sol inhabitant may not be seen nor caught, that is the Fixe Sulphur Rubeum, and its Spiritus Mercurius, it all goes forth by supreme means, that is the right mother, from it the solution becomes manifest, it blackeneth, it whiteneth, it yelloweth, it all reddens itself, by its self-ascending natures grasps. Now when such a cure occurs, which reveals the fiery tincture of gold, the Spiritus Alcol has great power to rule over it: for the chest of gold is broken up and lies dead, it is all dissolved and not corrupted. As all other waters corrupt and rend the inhabitant, yet such corpses of a metallic nature remain, can be reduced and brought back into a corpus.

Our Materia is a double Mercurius, spirit and water fiery and cold even more manifold virtuous dwelling in the soul, body and spirit. The ancients have given this Materia many names, the water of paradise, the living Mercurial water Aquam Ardentem, Visosam, &c. Called. But in all scriptures testimony remains of these names and the Preperatrion hidden, whether the philosophers discovered the whole reason of the work, they conceal this name, they call it Key (Schlüsfel), but they are silent to make the solution, wherefore Theophrasus speaks because the ancients keep this name as a secret, does not want to reveal to me this name clearly, nor its preparation or solution, I do not want to be the beginner and be scolded as a criminal of Iuramenti Philosophci, but it is all in all, and most of all necessary that after the dissolution of the ☉ Sol one knows how to lure the color of the high Tincture together with the Glutine, unlock its Salian band and separate it from all defects and purify it so that this tincture shines high, pure and clear. So the ancients did not unreasonably ask that our Tinctur fire be compared to the heavenly fire, for the work is divine, more English than human, and for the sake of its great working power, God has made the fire, water and spirit highly esteemed, worthy, spiritual, fiery, pentrant: it is said to be holy like the angels: for it is a divine heavenly gift.

Philosophers have tried a lot with him, even the artists, but the right way has not yet been found with them, nor have they experienced the second invention, for they died before me. Now it is praise to God on the day and should be an art that all doctors should know, because this gives his supposed but a knowing doctor this is the Lili and highest purification of the whole human body, the noblest and sweetest, which takes away what is inactive in people. Four speak out the judgment—
That alone condemns only the ostrich.

It follows
The Procession to the Philosopher's Stone,
by a Certain Anonymous Monk.

First you make Acetum Philosophorum.

Take three parts of good wine vinegar, distill it three times — then it becomes a clear water of the vinegar. Take one part, put prepared salt in it, distill them together — then it becomes a beautiful clear water / this is praised in the art / and purifies the body / and turns it to water / put in silver or gold leaf. Q.E.F. Add spirit of wine to it / so it becomes the colder and better / the Philosopher's Salt is drawn out of the Luna with distilled vinegar.

AQUA MERCURII.

So take one ounce of purified Mercury, Luna, put it in a glass, and pour vinegar over it so that it is above / place it in a warm bath three days / so dissolves the Mercury into a fine clear water / that is the Water of Mercury, the true living silver / and it is the Prima Materia, the Virgin’s Milk, the Fountain of the Philosophers / and has many other names: Aqua Vitae, Salt of Metals, White Eagle, Basilisk, Serpent-born.

SOLUTION OF THE SUN.

So take four ounces of pure beaten gold / put it in a small glass / and pour the above-mentioned water over it, one finger’s breadth above it, seal the glass and set it three days and nights in a warm bath / gold dissolves from a ducat weight into water and becomes a beautiful true gold water. Then pour off the gold water and from the residue / pour Mercury Water again one finger’s breadth above / set again three days and nights in a warm bath / so dissolves the residual gold water / do this a third time / until the gold is fully dissolved / collect the dissolved gold water together into a glass and distill it, so you have the gold water from which the Sun is prepared and from which the Philosopher’s Stone is made.

Bathed in the clear spring water, says Bernhardus Comes Trevisanus, and so his fountain is not false.

The union of both waters - CONJUNCTIO UTRIUSQUE AQUAE,
and is called Margarita.

So take the Mercurial water, the living Luna, four parts; the dissolved gold water one part; put together into a well-sealed glass and place it in a warm bath for four days and nights, not letting it cool. It will digest and unify into one nature and essence, and this is the Fountain of the Philosophers, from which the Stone is drawn.

Now follows: How to separate the four elements from the water.

So take the glass with the water, place a helm (head) on it, and distill it by balneum (water bath) for three days and nights from the materia; then rises the element of water. And it is a beautiful clear water, and it is the first element, the spirit of the body; what remains at the bottom is a dark matter — keep the water well! For with this water all things are perfected and it is the Prima Materia of the Stone.

The second element: AER.

So take the glass with the dark matter at the bottom, place it into a sand bath, seal it well, and distill it with gentle heat. Then a portion comes out — that is the element of air. What remains at the bottom is a dry water; this is the Corpus, the earth called the Terra Philosophorum; grind it finely and keep it.

How to purify and cleanse the two elements Water and Air

Take the element of water, put it into a flask, and set it eight days in MB. Do the same with the other element, air; also set it eight days in the bath, and make the vessels tight. Then take and distill each over a gentle bath separately; afterwards, set the two elements onto gentle warmth for eight to ten days, so that the two elements may be distilled and well purified for the tincture.

How to now purify the third element, the Earth

Take the third element, the black earth, grind it small, and put it into a glass, pour the element of water over it, and set it eight days in a bath to digest and purify. Do this four times until it becomes black. Then take the glass out and set it on gentle heat and distill it in a well-sealed vessel or glass under a blind helm. And when the water becomes dry, it rises again as water, and set it again on gentle heat for eight days until the earth begins to turn white. And the earth is cooked with the water and rises and falls in the glass, and the earth sublimates itself from the bottom of the glass. They call this the terra sublimata, and it is the white stone, the margarita, the white laminated earth, the white sulphur of the philosophers. This you must ferment, and its salt must be mixed with the spirit. This is now the true stone for the white elixir album.

How to raise the stone to the higher red color

So take the white stone and grind it small, and give it strong fire, then the stone will become yellow-brown, and finally red. And this is the red sulphur of the philosophers, and without this sulphur no tincture can be made. Moisten the sulphur with the first element of fire; take one part of it with one part sulphur, set it on warm ash or sand, and distill it. You must do this seven times—then the stone will be fiery and enduring.

How one should ferment

So take the stone, grind it small, and take the element of air or oil, three parts, put it into a sand crucible, give it fire, then the material will flow like wax. Then let it rise and descend for three days in a circulatory vessel. Then take it out and grind it small again. Then give it again the oil as before, again onto the ashes and sand, then it will rise again with various colors in the circulatory, and will transform into a beautiful redness. And the saying of the philosophers is fulfilled:

“Our stone rises up into the heavens and descends again to the earth, and the air has carried it in its belly.”

This tinges one part of a hundred parts of mercury into good, lasting gold. This work you must carry out just as the masters do, with solving, distilling, imbibing, coagulating, fermenting—until it has come to its complete red color.

AUGMENTATION or MULTIPLICATION and Fixation of the Stone.

So take four lots of Mercury, of Luna, and two lots of foliated Sol, and take one lot of the fermented Stone, rub them all together on a stone, put them into a flask, and pour four lots of the first Element of Water onto it; set it on sand or ashes and distill from the material. Then take the flask out, and when it is dissolved, put it back into the mortar, grind it well, take it out and rub it fine; put it again into the flask, pour again four lots of the Water onto it. Do this seven times: then the material will be pure and steadfast. After that, give it the Element of Air, so often until it flows like wax, as it is supposed to be, until it coagulates again red into a Stone.

How one shall multiply the Tincture.

So take one hundred lots of crude Mercury, or 24 (lots), well purified with salt and vinegar, burn it seven times in a melting pot over a fire until it begins to smoke (so that it smokes), then take one lot of the Tincture, throw it on and blow for one hour; then the Mercury transforms into a red powder and the Medicine is multiplied, and from one lot you have one hundred lots of Medicine.

From this Tincture, take one lot, that works on one hundred parts of crude Mercury or 24 (parts), and it will become gold, proven and steadfast in all tests. Therefore, praise and thank God who has revealed this secret to man; it is a gift of God.

Most beloved, gracious reader and son of our philosophy of Spagyria,

I have for a long time doubted deeply within myself whether I should communicate and disclose such high arcana to you in this our new Rosarium, because it has been forbidden by the philosophers to reveal such things in a clear and public manner, especially to the unworthy—and their oath obliges all philosophers to withhold and conceal such truths.

For I tell you truly and in the highest sincerity: in many years, never has such truth been revealed so openly by any philosopher, nor have the highest arcana ever been so disclosed as I have done here in this Rosarium.
